Back for a fifth year, the Louisville Juneteenth Festival is moving to Lynn Family Stadium on Saturday, June 15, for its annual celebration of freedom, culture and community.
Organizers have teamed up with Louisville’s professional soccer clubs for a banner day in the Butchertown neighborhood, where Racing Louisville FC hosts NJ/NY Gotham FC at noon in a game broadcast on ESPN. The Louisville Juneteenth Festival will follow in the stadium’s Purple Lot with gates opening at 2 p.m. just following the game.
Recognized as Kentucky’s official Juneteenth event, the Louisville Juneteenth Festival will run until 11 p.m., commemorating the heritage and legacy of African Americans with cultural extravaganza featuring mouthwatering food, soulful live music and activities for all ages.
The festival supports more than 100 minority businesses and expects attendance of more than 10,000. Tickets are available now at LouisvilleJuneteenthFest.com or can be purchased at the gate. Email info@louisvillejuneteenthfest.com by June 1 for sponsorship opportunities, or to secure a spot in the festival’s marketplace.
“This year marks a special milestone for the event as we celebrate our fifth year and empower local businesses, artists, and provide resources for all who attend,” said Juan Lambert, board chair of the Louisville Juneteenth Festival as well as marketing and communications director at Park DuValle Community Health.
“This is more than just a festival,” Lambert added. “It’s a celebration of unity, progress and the enduring spirit of our freedom. We encourage the community to spread the word about this year’s event and join us for a day when heritage, reflection and community intersect.”
Additionally, the Louisville Juneteenth Festival is thrilled to announce Churchill Downs Inc. and Derby City Gaming as its first Platinum Partner supporting the event. Pebble will serve as the event’s official marketplace data partner.
