Racing Louisville FC’s players have teamed up to sign and auction off their special edition Pride Night warmup T-shirts donned before Wednesday’s game against the North Carolina Courage — along with a number of the kits worn featuring rainbow-colored numbering.
Players inspired the warmup’s design, which features a fluer-de-lis stylized to represent the Progress Pride flag. Originated in 2018, the flag adds a five-color chevron to the traditional Pride flag to represent the transgender community and those marginalized by race.
With bidding open now through July 1 at 32auctions.com/RLFCPride2021, all proceeds will benefit the Louisville Youth Group. The local nonprofit creates a brave space for LGBTQIA+ Youth and Allies and is dedicated to providing youth with skills and experiences designed to help them thrive as community leaders.
LYG is also the beneficiary of a supporter-led Prideraiser in which fans are pledging to donate per goal scored this month by the NWSL’s Racing Louisville and the USL Championship side Louisville City FC. Click here to contribute to the Prideraiser.
Pride Night festivities continue for Louisville’s professional soccer clubs on Saturday when LouCity hosts rival Indy Eleven at Lynn Family Stadium. Rainbow-themed team gear on sale benefits the Louisville Pride Foundation, while a number of activations will surround the 7:30 p.m. game, including a National Anthem performance by Voices of Kentuckiana, a chorus that celebrates diversity.
Following the final whistle, bring proof of your ticket purchase for free admission to PLAY Dance Bar, at 1101 E. Washington Street, for official Pride Night after parties. Proceeds from an occasion-oriented custom cocktail will be donated the Louisville Pride Foundation.
Beyond Pride Nights, Soccer Holdings is exploring a workshop and/or training from Louisville-based Queer Kentucky to educate its employees further about inclusion, diversity, intersectionality, and trans-inclusivity.
