With Racing Louisville: After giving birth to her second child in December of 2020, Matthews made her return to the field on June 3 against the Portland Thorns. The forward scored her first goal back in an Aug. 8 win over Kansas City. The forward went on to make 17 appearances, including four starts.
Before Racing Louisville FC: Selected seventh overall in the 2016 NWSL College Draft, Matthews scored a trio of goals in 17 NWSL appearances in 2019, her most-recent season on the pitch. That year, she also represented Jamaica — her mother’s home country — in the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Going back to her college days, Matthews was First Team All-SEC at Vanderbilt before transferring to Florida State, where she tallied 10 goals and 7 assists on the Seminoles’ 2015 national championship team. Matthews is a mother of two who’s married to NFL free agent receiver Jordan Matthews. Racing acquired playing rights to Matthews on the Re-Entry Wire as part of the 2020 End of Season Process.
International: With family ties to Jamaica, Matthews plays for the Reggae Girlz on the international level. Since making her debut in February 2019, she has represented Jamaica at the 2019 World Cup, making two starts in group play. As of October 2021, she has earned 9 international caps.
