Racing Louisville’s W League team had its largest margin of victory of the year Monday when the club defeated St. Charles FC 9-0 at Lutheran High School in St. Peters Missouri.
This result comes two days after Racing defeated St. Charles FC 7-0 at home Saturday.
Louisville’s record now stands at 7-1-1 on the nation’s premier pre-professional women’s soccer circuit, with its 22 points good for second in the Valley Division, tied on points with first-place Indy Eleven.
The scoring started early when Alexis Scarpinato picked off a pass from the St. Charles goalkeeper in the second minute of play.
Scoring was led by Caiya Hanks with four goals and Shae Murison with three. Defender Autumn Weeks headed in a goal in the second half as well.
The win tightened the race for the USL W League playoffs, which kick off in July. The first-place finisher from the Valley Division will advance to the knockout tournament, and Indy Eleven currently holds the head-to-head tiebreaker against Racing, having gone 1-0-1 against its rival this summer.
With a roster comprised of college standouts and Racing youth academy talents, the club is nine games through a 10-match W League campaign.
Next up, Louisville will finish its season Thursday when the team travels to Cincinnati to face Kings Hammer FC at 7 p.m. on the campus of Xavier University.
