Racing Louisville added two U-18 players to its preseason roster ahead of the team’s upcoming trip to The Women’s Cup Colombia, the club announced Tuesday.
Fresh off a gold-medal run with the U.S. Youth National Team at the 2024 Concacaf Women’s U-17 Championship, defender Trinity Armstrong will join team training in Louisville this week. Another U.S. Youth National Teamer, U-15 forward Micayla Johnson, will meet up with the team late this week in time to travel to Colombia.
Both players are designated as non-roster invitees on Louisville’s preseason roster and will be part of Racing’s traveling squad in Colombia, where the team will play in The Women’s Cup’s inaugural South American event. Louisville takes on Colombian club Deportivo Cali in the Feb. 27 semifinals at Estadio Olímpico Pascual Guerrero in Cali.
Armstrong, 16, made four starts in the Concacaf Women’s U-17 Championship, helping the U.S. go unbeaten through the tournament while outscoring opponents, 32-2. The Frisco, Texas, native trained with Racing last season and provides depth across the back line for the team’s two games in Colombia.
Defender Elli Pikkujämsä will be on international duty with Finland during TWC Colombia. With forwards Elexa Bahr (Colombia), Uchenna Kanu (Nigeria) and Linda Motlhalo (South Africa) all on international duty during TWC Colombia, Johnson adds a much-needed boost to Racing’s attacking group.
Johnson, a Michigan native, played for the U-15 U.S. squad on its tour of Europe last summer, scoring twice against the Netherlands. The 16-year-old forward is considered one of the top prospects in the country in the high school class of 2026.
