Racing Louisville FC and iHeartMedia Louisville today announced that Sports Talk 790 AM will become Racing’s landmark first local broadcast radio partner beginning with the 2024 season.
Sports Talk 790 AM will carry live radio play-by-play of each of Racing’s 26 regular-season National Women’s Soccer League games as the club enters its fourth campaign in the best women’s soccer league on the planet. Sports Talk 790AM will serve as the primary carrier of Racing coverage, with some game broadcasts on Talk Radio 1080. Sports Talk 790 AM afternoon show Coffey & Company will also feature a weekly Racing segment as part of the new partnership. Fans can also hear all the action on the iHeartRadio app.
“We are thrilled to partner with Racing Louisville and their incredibly loyal and passionate fans,” said Kristy Beebe, Area President Kentucky/Carolina for iHeartMedia. “The collaboration between our two organizations has already begun and we are excited to bring their games, players and programming to our listeners across iHeart’s platforms.”
The new partnership comes at an exciting time in Racing Louisville’s young club history, with 35-year-old Bev Yanez, a former professional star player in her own right, taking over as head coach. The team had its best season yet in 2023, with the most overall points and goals scored and fewest goals allowed in the club’s three years of existence.
“This is the perfect time to broaden our coverage, and iHeart’s portfolio of stations and resources is a great fit,” said Pat Denbow, vice president of partnerships. “Our fans are on the go, and we are excited that this gives them another convenient option to keep up with Racing games and interviews.”
The team features multiple players with U.S. Women’s National Team experience, including Savannah DeMelo, Taylor (Kornieck) Flint, Jaelin Howell and Carson Pickett, as well as international stars Ary Borges (Brazil) and Linda Motlhalo (South Africa). Kentucky native and University of Kentucky legend Arin (Gilliland) Wright joined the squad via trade this offseason.
In addition to the over-the-air broadcasts, fans can also tune into Racing games streamed live via the iHeartRadio app and either 790louisville.com or talkradio1080.com, depending on which station is carrying the broadcast. Racing will announce which station is broadcasting its games ahead of each contest.
